Frozen Shoulder Injection Review

15+ years experience. Frozen shoulder and shoulder stiffness review for CR Park, Greater Kailash, Kalkaji, and Nehru Place.

Symptoms we help with

  • Shoulder stiffness that makes dressing, bathing, or reaching behind the back difficult
  • Night pain or pain when turning in bed
  • Difficulty lifting the arm overhead or combing hair
  • Slowly reducing shoulder movement over weeks or months
  • Diabetes, thyroid issues, or previous shoulder pain with new stiffness
  • Confusion about shoulder injection, hydrodilatation, physiotherapy, or arthroscopy

What happens in your consultation

  1. 1Dr. Gaur checks shoulder movement, pain pattern, strength, and whether stiffness is global or tendon-related.
  2. 2Old X-rays, ultrasound, MRI, prescriptions, or diabetes/thyroid reports are reviewed; new tests are advised only when they change the plan.
  3. 3You get a clear explanation of whether medicines, physiotherapy, shoulder injection, hydrodilatation, or surgical review fits your stage.

Treatment options

Non-surgical

  • Stage-wise pain control, sleep-position advice, and gentle mobility guidance
  • Shoulder injection or hydrodilatation discussion only after diagnosis and suitability review
  • Physiotherapy after pain control to regain motion safely and avoid forceful stretching

Surgical

  • Arthroscopic capsular release is considered only for selected severe stiffness not improving with proper non-surgical care
  • Rotator cuff or labral surgery is discussed only when weakness, instability, examination, and imaging clearly support it

Rehab & return to activity

  • First visit: confirm whether this is frozen shoulder, tendon pain, arthritis, or neck-related pain
  • 2-6 weeks: pain control and guided motion; injection or hydrodilatation may be discussed if stiffness blocks progress
  • Follow-up: progress stretching and strengthening based on pain, movement, diabetes control, and daily function

FAQ

Is injection useful for frozen shoulder?

It can help selected patients, especially when pain is blocking sleep and physiotherapy. Suitability depends on the stage, examination, X-ray findings, diabetes or thyroid status, and how much movement is restricted.

What is hydrodilatation for frozen shoulder?

Hydrodilatation is a procedure used in selected frozen shoulder cases to stretch the tight shoulder capsule with fluid under guidance. It is not for every patient, and it works best when followed by the right mobility program.

Do I need MRI before a shoulder injection?

Not always. Many frozen shoulder cases are diagnosed with history, examination, and X-ray. MRI or ultrasound is considered when weakness, tendon injury, arthritis, or another diagnosis would change treatment.

Will one injection permanently cure frozen shoulder?

No injection should be presented as a permanent cure. The goal is pain control and better movement in suitable patients, while recovery still needs guided stretching, strength work, and follow-up.

Is physiotherapy still needed after injection or hydrodilatation?

Usually yes, under guidance. Pain relief alone is not enough. The shoulder has to regain safe movement, then strength and control, without aggressive forceful stretching.

When is surgery considered for frozen shoulder?

Surgery is considered only in selected cases where severe stiffness continues despite a proper non-surgical plan and the examination supports that direction.
